A little bit about your guide
Wild Within Alaska is run by Stephanie Cimmino. From guiding you on the trails and through your yoga practice to fishing alongside you and connecting around the fire, Stephanie is your host.
Stephanie has been a local resident of Ketchikan, Alaska since 2018. Stephanie is originally from Florida, where she started a thriving yoga business before deciding to move north to Alaska. When moving to Alaska, she made it a point to focus more on her personal practice and journey as a whole to truly soak up Alaska's healing energy and allow the path forward to reveal itself. Rather than jumping into teaching in Ketchikan, Stephanie thought it best to observe and immerse herself in the local culture to really identify her place within it in order to be of maximum service to her newfound community.
Stephanie is an E-RYT200 yoga instructor rooted in the Ashtanga tradition with a passion for the healing power of movement and mindfulness. She has a special interest in trauma and how it impacts the body. So much so that she spent a week in Big Sur, CA with Dr. Bessel Van der Kolk, and other movement professionals, to learn and really dissect his book The Body Keeps the Score.
By day, Stephanie puts her hard earned Master of Public Administration to use by serving in the nonprofit sector for a social services organization that supports survivors of sexual assault & domestic violence in Ketchikan. This is her primary role in the community, but this project is what feeds her soul in ways that support her ability to show up in that space as well.
This boutique retreat business is something she has always dreamed of doing and something she is deeply committed to. It is her way of combining everything she loves: Alaska, yoga, the outdoors, wildlife, and fostering community with likeminded women focused on growth! Guiding others through these experiences reminds her why she lives here. Seeing someone's eyes light up with that inner spark as they connect with the land and themselves brings her immense gratitude and fulfillment.
